A 500 error during PDF upload usually means there’s a problem with the file format or structure. The system can’t process the PDF due to one of the following issues:
Common causes:
The file is password-protected or locked.
The PDF includes interactive fields (e.g., fillable forms) or is too large.
The file contains images or is an image-only PDF (you can’t select text when you open it).
The file is corrupted or not a true PDF/A-compliant document.
The file was created using a non-standard PDF tool.
What to do:
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat or a full-featured PDF editor.
Check whether the text is selectable—if not, the system may treat it as unreadable.
Save it as a flattened PDF or reduced size PDF:
In Acrobat, go to:
File > Save As Other > Archival (PDF/A)In Acrobat, go to:
File > Save As Other > Reduced Size PDF
Re-upload the updated file in the FAC system.
